PROTEAN II xi 电泳槽和PROTEAN II XL 宽式电泳槽功能灵活，可用于多种分离，包括SDS-PAGE、第一和**向双向电泳、非变性、制备、梯度和高分辨率核酸琼脂糖电泳。单向电泳（ 1-D）可使用 PROTEAN II xi 电泳槽进行16 x 16 cm 和16 x 20 cm 凝胶电泳。双向电泳（2-D），使用PROTEAN II XL 电泳槽电泳可容纳17和18 cm IPG 胶条的**向凝胶（约18.5 x 20 cm）。

使用495 型梯度生成仪、PROTEAN II 多板凝胶灌胶器和合适的对数活塞可灌制多种梯度胶；容量为7-50 ml 的475 型梯度生成系统与PROTEAN II 板式凝胶灌胶架是灌制单一梯度凝胶的理想选择

使用带有凹口的玻板(notched plates)，可同时进行4 块16 x 16 cm 或16 x 20 cm 手灌胶电泳，可增加一次电泳的样品数（不推荐用于双向电泳）

可选择磨砂玻板（frosted glass）进行高分辨率的垂直琼脂糖核酸电泳；电泳梳转换螺纹夹(comb conversion screws) 可把任何PROTEAN II xi 电泳梳从标准的25 mm 孔深转变为10 mm 孔深,并方便的将电泳梳从易碎琼脂糖凝胶中取出
