Introduction
Parainfluenza virus, PIV, contains a group of four distinct serotypes of single-stranded RNA viruses belonging to the paramyxovirus family and two subtypes (4a and 4b). Parainfluenza viruse is a negative-sense, single-stranded RNA viruse that possess fusion and hemagglutinin-neuraminidase glycoprotein "spikes" on their surface. The virion varies in size (average diameter between 150 and 300 nm) and shape.
Description
MA 104 cells inoculated with parainfluenza 2 virus, strain II ALTB cc 2056.
Inactivation
Thimerosal and beta propiolactone treatment.
This product has been treated in a manner consistent with methods of inactivation. Generally accepted good laboratory practices appropriate to microbiological/viral safe handling practices and techniques are required at work.
Physical Appearance
Sterile Filtered colorless solution.
Formulation
The Parainfluenza type-2 solution contains STE, 0.02% sodium azide (NaN3).
Stability
Parainfluenza type-2 although stable 4°C for 4 weeks, should be stored below -18°C.
