肾系膜细胞是血管周围细胞，位于肾小球毛细血管袢之间的中央部位。系膜细胞有多种功能，包括合成和组装的系膜基质，内吞作用和处理血浆大分子，通过系膜细胞收缩或血管活性激素的释放[1]调控肾小球血流动力学。系膜细胞也能合成，聚集和控制肾小球系膜基质成分的变化。在多种肾小球疾病中，如IgA肾病、膜增生性肾小球肾炎、狼疮性肾炎、肾小球硬化症、糖尿病肾病等，均能检测到肾小球系膜基质的生产过剩[2，3]。这些关键的作用表明肾系膜细胞是研究生理和病理环境下系膜损伤和肾小球功能的理想模型。
Sciencell研究实验室的人肾系膜细胞是从人的肾脏组织中分离得到的，纯化后冻存，冰冻运输。每管细胞密度*过5×10^5/ml。该细胞可通过纤连蛋白、Thy-1和平滑肌肌动蛋白特异性抗体的免疫荧光进行鉴定。本细胞经检测不含HIV-1、HBV、HCV、支原体、细菌、酵母菌和真菌。如采用ScienCell 实验室特制的培养基，可保证此细胞15倍增殖。
