Description
The ViPrimePLUS Listeria monocytogenes qPCR Kit is a Taqman probe-based real-time PCR assay for the detection of Listeria monocytogenes genomes in cerebrospinal fluid, faecal and food samples.
Leptospirosis is a worldwide spread zoonosis affecting a wide range of animals and human. The disease is caused by a Gram negative, spiral-shape bacterium of the Leptospira genus. Saprophytic leptospires are commonly found in the environmental water supply, while pathogenic species are usually maintained in animal host with rare cases of waterborne. Transmission is via direct contact with bodily fluid of the infected animals or contaminated soil and water. In animals, infection normally leads to liver and kidney damage. The spread to human is usually via contact with rats and exotic animals. Human leptospirosis is characterized by acute febrile illness with several mild relapses. Fatality is common if infection spreads to multiple organs, such as renal and liver failure. Thus, fast detection and illness management is necessary to avoid severe complications.
