Description
The ViPrimePLUS Neisseria gonorrhoeae qPCR Kit is a Taqman probe-based real-time PCR assay for the detection of the Neisseria gonorrhoeae genomes in clinical samples (e.g. genital fluids and swabs).
Neisseria gonorrhoeae is a Gram negative, cocci bacterium which is transmitted sexually. There are about 88 million new infections occurring globally every year and the emergence of multi-drug resistant strains has gained public concern over the recent years. Symptoms in infected male are prominently observed by the purulent discharge from urethra and dysuria. However in female, the symptoms are milder and often confused with other vaginal infections. In the event of the pathogen entering the bloodstream or spreading to other cells, prostatitis or orchitis are developed in men and salpingitis or ovaritis in women. So, prevention is better than cure by routine screening.
