Description
The ViPrimePLUS Human Herpes Virus 8 qPCR Kit is a Taqman probe-based real-time PCR assay for the detection of Human Herpes Virus 8 genome in clinical samples (e.g. blood and oral fluids).
Human Herpes virus (HHV) is classified into 8 subtypes with each of them manifesting different disease implications. Human Herpes virus 8 (HHV8) is the etiologic agent for Kaposi Sarcoma, multicentric Castleman's disease and primary effusion lymphoma that severely affects immunocompromised patients. Development of Kaposi Sarcoma in healthy individuals is low but there are small numbers of febrile rash cases occur in children. The tumor-causing pathogenesis of this virus makes it an interesting subject to study on the molecular biology of oncogenic virus. The possible routes of transmission of this oncogenic virus are blood transfusion, organ transplantation and sexual contact. Thus, early diagnosis is essential as Kaposi Sarcoma is more likely to improve if treated earlier.
